South African Football Association chief executive Robin Petersen says they are delighted to have secured Africa's number one team for the Nelson Mandela Challenge on November 12.
The game which will be played at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth,
is expected to feature CIV heavyweights like Didier Drogba, Salomon
Kalou, the Toure brothers Yaya and Kolo as well as Gervinho.
"We are really delighted to have managed to secure an opponent of the calibre of the Ivory Coast," BBC Sport quotes Petersen as saying.
"They are number one on the continent, which is a clear indication that it will not be an easy day in the office.
"We
are also honoured to be playing this match near the home of Nelson
Mandela. As an Association we believe this is a fitting tribute for all
he has done for sport in general in this country."
Sixteen Nelson Mandela Challenge matches have been played since its introduction in 1994 with South Africa winning seven, losing seven and drawing two.
